@hal-ide Bravo! Absolutely wonderful work! When I was in college the tempo goal was 104 for undergrads and then up to 120 for grad students and advanced undergrads. I can't speak for other studios, but maybe someone else wants to contribute some thoughts? I think you sound fantastic and I love your dedication to this. I can't speak much to alto flute range so I defer to your judgment. My teacher always encouraged us to play to high D every day because she said some day you're going to need it and just expect it to be there for you. So if you want someone to be there for you, you must visit them every day. I think of that…
Howdy! I am happy to say that I am on track this week with the b flat scale. I am back with the alto and am doing a bit of an adjusted level 3. My problem is the high C. I can make it speak, but it is much less pretty than any notes below it, and it is hard to get through the "turn around" at the top when I am squawking and squealing up there. So, I leave it out... I go only to a b or b flat and turn back. My only defense is that I have not yet encountered a high C in the alto lit... there are some b's and a fair…
