Meet the Board

Rose Bishop, Social Media & Librarian

Victoria Rose Bishop currently serves as Principal Flute of the Southeast Iowa Symphony, Principal Flute of the Southeast Iowa Band, Second Flute and Piccolo of the Ottumwa Symphony, Second Flute of the Quincy Symphony, Piccoloist of the Oneota Valley Orchestra, and flutist the Durward Contemporary Music Ensemble. Rose is the Adjunct Instructor of Flute at Cornell College, Kirkwood Community College, and Mount Mercy University in Iowa, and at Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri where she has been teaching Applied Flute and music courses since 2014. As a private teacher, she maintains a large flute studio of over fifty students of all ages at West Music, her home, and several local schools in the Iowa City area. She received a Master of Music degree from the University of Iowa where she studied with Nicole Esposito and a Bachelor of Music degree from Georgia State University where she studied with Sarah Kruser Ambrose. She has engaged in post-graduate study with flutist Jim Walker and piccoloist Erica Peel.

Liz Vergili, Treasurer

Liz has been working in the flute industry for over 20 years. She began working with the flute specialty shop JL Smith & Co in Charlotte in 1997. In 2010, she moved to Nashville to work with Altus Flutes as the Sales Manager. In 2013, Liz joined the Flute Authority team in Iowa as the sales manager for Sankyo, Miyazawa, and Trevor James flutes.


Liz Vergili has a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She has played in flute choirs in Charlotte, Nashville, and at the NFA conventions. She is an active member of the National Flute Association (NFA) and the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM).

Heather Neuenschwander, Director

Heather Neuenschwander is an active flutist in Iowa City and the surrounding area. Heather is the piccolist with the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra and has performed on flute and piccolo with the Muscatine Symphony Orchestra, the Ottumwa Orchestra and the Grinnell College Symphonic Band. She has performed and presented for flute studios and clubs throughout the country including at multiple National Flute Association Conventions. Heather is a dedicated flute teacher, virtually and at her home teaching studio while also working in Online Sales and Promotions for Flute Specialists, Inc. based in Clawson, MI. Heather previously enjoyed part time work at Flute Authority in West Music Coralville play testing flutes and assisting with other various tasks. Directing the Iowa City Flute Choir is one of her largest passions.

 

Heather Neuenschwander has a Master’s Degree in Flute Performance from Oakland University (Rochester Hills, MI) and a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Wayne State University (Detroit, MI). Heather’s main teachers are Sharon Sparrow (Associate Principal Flute with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra), Jeffery Zook (Piccolo with the DSO), Amanda Blaikie (Second Flute with the DSO) and she has also studied with Ervin Monroe, Marina Piccinini, Laurie Sokoloff, Nicola Mazzanti, and Jennifer Clippert. Heather is a previous winner of the David Daniels Young Artist Concerto Competition earning the privilege to play the 3rd movement of the Ibert Concerto with the Oakland Symphony Orchestra. While at Oakland University she also received the Matilda Award for Outstanding Graduate Student in Instrumental Performance.
